Antigua & Barbuda Citizenship by Investment

Antigua & Barbuda followed the steps of other Caribbean in 2013 when it amended its laws to allows citizenship by investment. The program was formally launched in 2014 and gather interest quickly. The small country consists of islands and doesn’t not levy any tax on personal income. The main asset is the Antigua & Barbuda passport which is provides a visa-free travel to Europe.

The program offers 3 investments options to applicants:

  1. Donation option which starts at 100,000 USD
  2. Real Estate option which starts at 200,000 USD
  3. Business option which starts at 400,000 USD

The whole process takes roughly 3-4 months to complete in order to obtain the passport. The passport is valid for 5 years and requires the applicants to show that they have stayed at least 5 days in the country during those 5 years in order to get their passport renewed.

Donation option

Applicants can choose the quick and easy option to donate money to the National Transformation Fund. It’s a 1-time cash payment of 100,000 USD in addition of due diligence fees.

Government fees25,000 USD for a family of up to 4 persons, with incremental payments of 15,000 USD for each additional dependent
Due diligence fees7,500 USD for main applicant and spouse, 2,000 USD per dependent aged 12-17; 4,000 USD per dependent aged 18 or older.
Passport fees300 USD

Real Estate option

Applicants choosing the real estate option must do by choosing an approved development. The investor must keep the property for at least 5 years. There are additional fees associated with the purchase, see below.

Investment amount400,000 USD or 200,000 USD each made by two related parties
Government fees50,000 USD for a family of up to 4 persons, with incremental payments of 15,000 USD for each additional dependent
Due diligence fees7,500 USD for main applicant and spouse, 2,000 USD per dependent aged 12-17; 4,000 USD per dependent aged 18 or older.
Passport fees300 USD

Business Investment option

The business option has been a very popular route as of late due to the low tax environment enjoyed in Antigua and Barbuda. Applicants are required to invest in government approved projects.

Investment amount1.5m USD OR 5m USD if in group of investor with a minimum of 400,000 USD per investor
Government fees50,000 USD for a family of up to 4 persons with incremental payments of 15,000 USD for each additional dependent
Due diligence fees7,500 USD for main applicant and spouse, 2,000 USD per dependent 12-17, 4,000 USD per dependent 18 or older.
