Australia has for long been considered an ideal place to live and a highly sought-after immigration destination. It started introducing immigrant investor programs back in 1992 and has since expanded its programs to cater to all types of business people. There are 3 distinct paths in the Australia Investor Stream.

Investor Stream

The Investor stream is the most affordable of the 3 options. It provides investors with a 4-year and 3-month residence permit. In the last few years, the processing times have increased due to backlog and are now estimated to take up to 20 months. Applicants are required to spend at least 2 years of those 4 years physical present in Australia. After having held the investment for 4 years, investors can apply for a permanent visa. Citizenship can be gained after 4 years of residence, which includes 12 months of permanent residence.

Significant Investor Stream

The Significant Investor stream is more expensive and also provides investors with a 4-year and 3 month residence permit. Processing time is quicker and is estimated at 9 months. Applicants are required to live in Australia for at least 40 days per year (calculated cumulatively) for the duration of the provisional visa, or the spouse to live there for at least 180 days per year (calculated cumulatively) for the duration of the provisional visa. After having held the investment for 4 years, investors can apply for a permanent visa. Citizenship can be gained after 4 years of residence, which includes 12 months of permanent residence.

Application fees	7,310 AUD + 9,795 AUD if no functional English is spoken by the main applicant; 3,655 AUD + 4,890 AUD if no functional English for adult dependents; 1,830 AUD for minor dependents

 

Premium Investor Stream

The Premium Investor stream is the most expensive of the 3 options. Like the other two, it provides a   4-year and 3-month residence permit. Its main advantages are that applicants need to hold their investment for only 12 months and there are no physical residence requirements. After 12 months, they can also apply for permanent residence. Naturalisation can happen after 4 years of residence, which includes a 12 months of permanent residence.
